Guide for Authors

Types of Submissions:

The AUNJMSR Journal welcomes for publication full-length research articles, reviews, and short communications in all fields of science. The submission should be written in English. Submissions should be performed using the online system. The manuscript must be submitted by the corresponding/principal author or one of the co-authors (if any).

Manuscript Submission

The author(s) must confirm, in the cover letter, that their submitted manuscript (or any part of it) is not currently under consideration for publication or has not been published elsewhere in English or any other language by our journal or any other local or international journals. Moreover, any Figure, illustration, scheme, structure, or table that has been previously published by any journal must be indicated, and copyright permission for reproduction must be obtained from the relevant published.

During submission, please provide a softcopy of the manuscript (MS Word (all versions) for the text and tables, illustrations/figures/schemes in TIFF, JPEG or PDF, and the chemical structures using ISIS Draw or ChemDraw (CDX). Moreover, a PDF file of the whole submitted article (including tables, figures, etc.) must be provided.

Manuscript Preparation

Text Organization

For manuscript preparation, the following points should be taken into consideration:

Use the MS Word DOC for preparing your article. Paper size is A4 and margins are normal (2.54 cm at the top, bottom and both left and right sides). The article starts with a title page, which is followed by abstract, keywords, main text, acknowledgements (if any), and references. Tables and figures are included at the end of the article. In case of research article, the main text comprises, in separate sections, introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, conclusion, and list of abbreviation (if any). In review article, starts with a general background of its subject considering the relevant other recent reviews in the field.

Article title should be written using font 14 using Times New Roman style and making the first letter capital. The various sections of the manuscript style must be written in double space with Times New Roman style and fonts of 12 pt. The section titles should be made bold using the same style for the main text. Full term of an abbreviated item should be given during its first appearance in the text unless if it stands for standard and well-known item. Binomial names of organisms or some biological resources must be italicized.

Cover Letter

In the submitted article, please include a cover letter that contains complete contact information for the corresponding author (mail and e-mail addresses and telephone and fax numbers). This letter must include a prime novelty of the presented article too. Moreover, the authors are asked to recommend three potential reviewers (reviewers have no conflicting of interests) in that letter.

Article Structure

Title page: containing a precise and brief title of the article, author's name, corresponding author(s) names, affiliations, and email address. Non-standard abbreviations should be avoided in the title.

Abstract: It should be clear and concise, which highlights the novel aspects and draws attention to the general features of the presented research. The size of the abstract should not exceed 250-300 words. Avoid using abbreviations and references in the abstract section.

Keywords: Up to 6 keywords must be provided. The topic of importance in the presented research is indicated by these keywords.

Section headings: The headings of the various sections must be numbered sequentially. These start with introduction with left alignment and capitalizing the first letter. The sub-section headings must be in in lower-case and numbered as 1.1, 1.2, etc.

Introduction: This section must include the background and objectives of the presented research in a comprehensive way. Please avoid unnecessary literature survey and cite the required key publications in a proper manner.

Materials and Methods: The authors should provide sufficient information of the methodology applied to allow the reproducibility of their experiments. Previous protocols employed in the authors’ research should be mentioned, with corresponding references, must be indicated. Details of materials supplier(s) and used equipment (manufacture, model, and country of origin) should me mentioned too. Each prepared material must be characterized properly. In case of new organic molecules, full analysis must be provided (elemental analysis, full C and HNMR data, HR-MS data, etc.). 

 Results and Discussion: could be combined in one section or separated in two sections depending on authors wish. The authors are asked to present the results (figures, schemes, and tables) and the interpretation of their work in a clear, concise, and precise manner. The authors must discuss and interpret their results and compare them with the previous reports. Please avoid (i) the repetitions of the data in figures and tables, and (ii) the extensive discussion and citations of the previous literature. Figures, tables, schemes, and references, should be referred to in the manuscript at the place where they have been first mentioned.

Conclusions: A concise paragraph that summarizes and highlights the important outcomes of the presented research, which could be given at the end of results and discussion part or in a separate section.

Acknowledgements: At the end of the article before the references, in a separate section, collate acknowledgments for any individual/institution/organization/company who financially supported, granting, or intellectually has participated in the submitted article.

References: During the manuscript preparation, number of the utilized references in order of appearance in the text. All references must be accurate, complete, and relevant to the study. The cited references must be for papers that are published or accepted for publication. In the text, indicate the references using sequential numbers [in square brackets] and list them in the reference section (at the end of the article) in the same order. All authors must be mentioned in each reference and avoid using of the phrase et al.

Tables

Tables are included in a separate page(s) at the end of the manuscript file, as editable text and not as images, and numbered using Arabic numerals. Tables should have descriptive captions and have to be cited in the text in consecutive numerical order. Tables’ titles must be written in small case with the first letter in caps. The units of the parameters/items at the top of each column should be mentioned. Avoid using shading and/or vertical rules in table cells. Previously published values/data/materials should be identified by mentioning the relevant original source reference at the end of table. Please indicate the tables’ footnotes, if necessary, by superscript lower-case letters.

Figures/illustrations/schemes

The electronic artwork (figures/illustrations/schemes) should be embedded in the manuscript file (MS Word DOC format) and not as separate files. Each item should be given a descriptive caption and consecutively cited in the manuscript. The authors are asked to submit high-quality figures/illustrations/schemes in MS Word, PDF, TIFF, PPT or JPEG formats. It the electronic artwork is given in several parts; these parts must be merged in a single image.

General remarks:

  • All the illustrations (letters, numbers, bars, and symbols) appearing in the electronic artwork should be clear, consistent, large enough and of uniform lettering.

  • All illustrations must be made using Times New Roman font with similar size.

  • Please provide a separate caption of all electronic artwork.

  • Do not use faint letters, lines, or illustrations.

  • Scanned line Art image must have a resolution of 1000 dpi.

  • Color or grayscale photographs (halftones) should have a resolution of 600-900 dpi.

  • Do not include electronic artwork that are optimized for screen use.

Peer Review: All submitted manuscripts will be assigned to an editorial number, which will be used in all correspondence with journal staff. All the submitted articles will be subjected to a preliminary screening by the technical editor. Articles which are not matched with the instructions to the authors will be returned back for revision and resubmission. The plagiarism will be checked by the technical editor using iThenticate software. Afterward, the article together with its iThenticate report will be passed to the editors in order to decide whether it matches with the scope of the journal and to evaluate its scientific importance. Depending on the editors’ point of view, the manuscript will be sent to the proper reviews or rejected without review. The reviewers suggested by the authors should net have a combined earlier published work. Depending on the reviewers’ comments, the relevant editor will decide to accept the manuscript, to ask the authors to revise it (minor or major), or will reject it. In case of revise-decision, the authors will submit to the journal a revised form of their manuscript taking into consideration the reviewers’ comments and a letter indicating the corrections done and answering the questions raised by the reviewers point by point.       

Proofs                                                             

After accepting the manuscript, the proofs will be sent to the corresponding authors who is responsible to check the proofs and returning on time to the journal.

Article Processing Charge

Publication fee is 850 EGP per one published paper. Coast of color images in hard copy (if any) is 50 Egp. Color art is free of charge for print and online publication
